What’s the experience like?

I didn’t really expect to end up dancing barefoot on a boat off Split, but there I was, clutching my plastic cup as the DJ switched tracks and the Adriatic wind tangled my hair. The check-in was this messy, happy blur—people from everywhere, a couple of Aussies already joking with our Croatian host about rakija shots (I still can’t pronounce that right). We all shuffled together for the two-minute walk to the boat, which looked way bigger than I pictured. The sun was already hot at 3pm, but there was this salty breeze that somehow kept things easy.

Once we set sail, it got loud—music bouncing off the water, laughter echoing across the deck. Our guide (I think her name was Ana?) kept checking if we needed anything. She even handed out sunscreen when someone started turning pink. There were two bars on board—honestly, I lost track of how many times I went back for another cold beer. At some point, we anchored in this ridiculously clear spot—the Blue Lagoon. Everyone just jumped in like kids. The water was colder than I thought; it shocked me awake in a good way. Someone did a cannonball and splashed half the group.

We stopped at another bay too—a little quieter—and I just sat at the edge for a while watching Split fade into haze behind us. The music changed to something slower then, which felt right. On the way back, golden hour hit and suddenly everyone had their phones out trying to catch that weird pink-gold light on the water. I got one photo where you can see everyone grinning at nothing in particular. When we docked again, nobody really wanted it to end so most of us followed our hosts straight to the after-party club (free entry included). My feet hurt but honestly? Totally worth it.
