What’s the experience like?

I nearly bailed when I saw the crowd gathering near the harbor — way more people than I expected for a Thursday night in Split. Someone handed me a wristband and grinned like we were already friends. The air smelled like sunscreen and cheap cologne (not in a bad way), and you could hear the music thumping from the boat before we even stepped on board. Our guide, Luka, kept joking about “Dalmatian time” — apparently that means we leave when the drinks kick in.

The deck was packed but not too much; there was room to dance or just lean over the rail and watch the city lights slide away behind us. The DJ started with some old-school bangers — honestly, I didn’t expect to be singing along to ABBA with strangers from three countries, but here we are. First free shot tasted like cough syrup but did its job. I remember salty wind on my face, sticky from spilled beer, laughing with two Aussies who’d lost their flip-flops somewhere between the bar and dance floor.

When we docked again it felt weirdly early (it wasn’t). Luka herded us toward Club Bacvice — he said it’s “Black & White” on Google Maps if you get lost, which I almost did. Free entry again, another shot waiting at the door. Inside was louder than the boat somehow; people dancing everywhere, neon lights bouncing off sweaty arms. I tried saying “živjeli” like Luka taught us (he laughed at my accent), then just let myself get pulled into the crowd. Didn’t even notice how late it got until my phone buzzed with a “where are you?” text from my hostel roommate.
