What’s the experience like?

I’ll be honest, I was a little nervous walking up to Karlovy Lázně — five floors of music thumping out over the river, neon everywhere, people laughing in every language you can imagine. But that’s kind of the thing about Prague nightlife: it pulls you in whether you’re ready or not. The ticket got us straight past the line (which was already snaking around the block), and someone handed me a tiny glass of something bright green. Absinthe? Maybe. It burned, but in a good way.

We bounced from club to club — Cross Club with its wild steampunk pipes and spinning lights, then XO where the DJ kept shouting out cities (“Berlin! Warsaw! Madrid!”) and everyone cheered like they’d just won something. Our guide, Petra, gave us tips on which places had the best cocktails (Shots Club: buy one get one free — dangerous) and which ones were more for dancing than talking. She laughed when I tried to order in Czech; I’m pretty sure I asked for “two potatoes” instead of two beers.

The air outside was chilly but inside every place felt warm and loud, like you could just disappear into the crowd if you wanted. At one point we ended up sharing a table with some students from Brno who insisted we try their favorite local shot — tasted like honey and pepper. Not my usual thing, but honestly? I still think about that weird sweetness mixed with all the noise and colored lights. We lost track of time completely; Prague does that to you at night.
