You know that feeling when you step out of your hotel in a new city and everything just hits you at once? That was me in Prague—cobblestones underfoot, the air kind of cool but not cold, and our guide Jana waving from across the street. She handed us these illustrated maps (her own design, she said) before we even started walking. I’m not usually one for guided tours, but this was different—she kept pointing out tiny things I’d never have noticed alone. Like on Nerudova Street, she stopped us to look up at these odd little house signs—two suns over one door, three fiddles over another. Apparently that’s how people found their homes before numbers. Made me wonder how anyone got their mail.

The Municipal House was our last big stop—so much Art Nouveau detail I couldn’t take it all in. By then my feet hurt (wear good shoes), but I didn’t really care. The light had shifted gold over the rooftops and Jana waved us off with a map and a grin. We could’ve added more stops or gone inside some places if we wanted (she mentioned that), but honestly I liked just wandering outside with someone who actually loves her city.
