What’s the experience like?

The morning air in Prague felt crisp as we slid into the back seat of a spotless Mercedes, our driver already waiting outside the hotel lobby. Bottled water chilled in the cup holders, and I caught a glimpse of the city waking up through tinted windows as we headed south. Our guide, Petra, chatted about local legends—she’s lived here her whole life and seemed to know every twist in the road by heart.

Rolling into Hluboká Castle just after 10am, mist still clung to the lawns. The castle’s white towers looked almost unreal against the green of its huge English-style park. We wandered along wide gravel paths lined with chestnut trees; you could hear birds fussing overhead and smell damp earth from last night’s rain. Petra pointed out how the building changed over centuries—from Gothic roots to Baroque grandeur—while we peeked through old iron gates at gardens that seemed to stretch forever.

After another hour on winding roads (with a quick coffee stop at a roadside bakery—try their koláče if you get the chance), we reached Český Krumlov. The old town is all cobbles and crooked alleys, tucked inside a bend of the Vltava River. The castle sits high above everything, perched right on a rocky ledge. We climbed up for views over red rooftops and watched locals set up market stalls below. Inside, you’ll spot details from different eras—Renaissance frescoes next to Rococo flourishes—and if you listen closely, you might catch the faint sound of organ music drifting from St. Vitus Church nearby.
