What’s the experience like?

How do you even start to choose what to see in Delhi? I remember sitting in the back of our AC car, still a bit jet-lagged, watching the city blur past — cows wandering between tuk-tuks, marigold sellers waving from the curb. Our guide, Rakesh, just grinned and asked what we felt like seeing first. I blurted out “food,” which made him laugh. So we ended up in Chandni Chowk before anything else — the air thick with cardamom and diesel, old men arguing over tea. I tried jalebi that stuck to my fingers for hours.

After that, it was a blur of colors and stories: the hush inside Jama Masjid (I had to borrow a scarf — Rakesh showed me how to tie it), sunlight bouncing off Humayun’s Tomb, schoolkids giggling by India Gate. He told us about Guru Tegh Bahadur at Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib; I’d never heard those stories before. There was this moment at Lodhi Gardens where everything got quiet except for birds and distant horns — I didn’t expect Delhi to have so much green space tucked away.

The best part? We could change plans as we went. When it started raining (monsoon surprise), Rakesh just shrugged and suggested Akshardham Temple instead of Raj Ghat since it was covered. He handled tickets and umbrellas like he’d done it a thousand times. The whole day felt easy — no rushing or awkward group stuff. And when my feet gave up after Qutub Minar’s steps, our driver had cold water waiting in the car. That little detail still makes me smile.
