What’s the experience like?

I didn’t expect to feel so awkward at first—standing there near the Colosseum while our photographer, Marco, adjusted his camera and grinned like he’d seen it all before. The air had that faint mineral smell you only get in old cities after rain, and I kept glancing up at the arches, half-distracted. “Just walk together,” Marco said, waving us forward. So we did, and honestly? It felt less like posing and more like we were just out for a stroll, except every few steps he’d catch something—my partner laughing at pigeons or me trying not to squint in the sun.

We picked the longer route—Colosseum plus Capitoline Hill—which meant weaving through little crowds and up stone steps. Marco told us about growing up nearby (he pointed out his favorite gelato spot, which I still regret not trying), and showed us where the light hits best just before noon. There was this one moment on Capitoline Hill where everything went quiet for a second—the city sounds muffled below—and he snapped a photo right then. I don’t even remember what we were talking about. Maybe that’s why it looks so real.

The whole thing took about an hour but didn’t feel rushed. We never had to fake those big smiles; Marco would just chat or tell some story about Roman cats or his grandmother’s pasta (which made my stomach growl). By the end, I forgot there was even a camera between us. Two days later, when the gallery link arrived (way faster than I expected), I scrolled through them on my phone while waiting for coffee in Trastevere. Some shots caught tiny details—a hand gesture, sunlight on stone—that I’d already forgotten happened. Those are my favorites now.
