I remember stepping out of Queen Alia International Airport after a long flight—eyes half-shut, just wanting to get to my hotel. There was my driver, holding a sign with my name in big letters. The car smelled faintly of cardamom from his morning coffee—tiny detail, but it made me feel like I’d landed somewhere new.

The drive into Amman was smooth. Our driver chatted about the city’s neighborhoods and pointed out where locals grab late-night shawarma (apparently, Rainbow Street is the spot). The air conditioning was a relief—the outside heat hit hard even at 8am. Free Wi-Fi meant I could message home right away.
