What’s the experience like?

I didn’t expect my shoes to fill with so much sand before we’d even started the quad biking. There was this salty wind off the Atlantic, kind of sharp in my nose, and our guide Youssef just grinned as he handed me a helmet. “Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it,” he said, which made me laugh because I was already half-covered in dust. The quad bikes felt heavier than I thought they’d be, but once we got moving along the beach near Agadir, it was like the engine hummed through my arms. Kids waved from behind fishing boats. I kept glancing at the sea—blue-grey, restless—and tried not to overthink every bump.

After that stretch along the coast (honestly, I lost track of time), we cut inland toward these rolling dunes. It was quieter there except for the wind brushing over the sand—almost like a low whistle. Sandboarding looked easier than it was; I fell twice before sliding down halfway upright, and Youssef cheered anyway. The sand was warm even under cloud cover and stuck everywhere (I found grains in my pocket later). There’s something weirdly freeing about laughing at yourself while trying to balance on a board in Morocco’s desert—nobody cared if you wiped out.

We ended up at Sidi Toual beach for a camel ride—slower, almost meditative after all that noise and speed. The camels made these deep sighing sounds as they walked beside the surf. I watched an old man mend his nets nearby, his hands moving without hurry. It felt peaceful in a way I didn’t expect from an “adventure tour.” Sometimes travel is loud and wild; sometimes it’s just quiet steps along the waterline while your legs remember how to walk again. I still think about that view back toward Agadir with sand stuck between my fingers.
