What’s the experience like?

First thing I noticed at Global Village Dubai was the smell — sweet spices drifting from some food stall, maybe Turkish? We’d just skipped the ticket line (thank you, online booking) and walked straight in. The place is loud but not in a bad way — music from somewhere, kids laughing, people haggling over scarves. Our driver had dropped us right at the gate, so no stress about parking or taxis. It felt like stepping into a festival that never really ends.

I lost count of how many pavilions we wandered through — India’s was bright and busy, then Egypt with all those little trinkets. My friend tried on a Moroccan necklace and the woman selling it winked at me when I hesitated over the price. There’s this constant hum of languages, and sometimes you catch bits of stories if you listen close enough. Our guide (I think his name was Ahmed?) pointed out where to find the best street snacks. I still think about those crispy samosas — hot enough to burn your tongue if you’re impatient like me.

We caught a dance show by accident — honestly just followed the crowd and ended up in front of a stage where these guys were drumming so hard you could feel it in your chest. After that we tried some weird candy from Japan (not my favorite), then watched a little girl win a giant stuffed bear on one of those impossible games. There’s something about seeing families from everywhere just hanging out together that makes you forget you’re technically still in Dubai.
