What’s the experience like?

Your heart gets loud up there—standing on top of Fox Tower at Foxwoods, staring down at the treetops. I remember my palms sweating a little, even though it wasn’t that hot out. The guide, Marcus (local guy, super chill), checked my harness and grinned like he’d seen every kind of nervous face before. Someone behind us was joking about losing their hat. You could smell pine needles and something sweet in the air—maybe someone’s perfume or maybe just nerves.

When they finally clipped me in for the HighFlyer Zipline, I didn’t have time to overthink it. One second you’re looking out toward Long Island Sound, and then—whoosh—you’re flying. Wind in your face, all that green rushing under you, and this weird mix of fear and pure joy in your chest. It’s not quiet; there’s wind in your ears and someone yelling “Go!” back at the tower. The whole thing takes about a minute but honestly feels longer (in a good way). I tried to spot the Mashantucket Pequot Museum as we zipped closer—missed it until we were almost landing.

The landing is smooth but my legs were jelly for a second after touching down near the museum. Marcus met us again with this knowing look—like he knew exactly how wild that felt. Shuttle was waiting to take us back to Foxwoods Casino, which was nice because I wasn’t really ready to walk anywhere just yet. If you’re doing this zipline from Fox Tower, definitely try to catch the late afternoon light—it makes everything glow.
