What’s the experience like?

Ever wondered what it’s like to sit in a room where the energy practically hums before the show even starts? That’s how it felt walking into the Lamarre Theater for Black Magic Live in Las Vegas. The crowd was already buzzing — you could hear laughter bouncing off the walls, and honestly, I was a little nervous (in a good way). Our tickets got us right in, no fuss, and there was this sweet smell of popcorn mixed with perfume and cologne. It’s not something you expect at a dance show, but it made me smile.

The cast — all Black male dancers from across the US — came out with so much swagger that people started cheering before they even did anything. I caught myself grinning like an idiot. One of the dancers winked at someone near us and she nearly fell out of her chair laughing. The MC kept things rolling with jokes that felt just a bit too real (I’m still thinking about one about Vegas dating). You know when you can tell everyone on stage is having fun? That’s how this felt. Plus, our local guide gave us some background on how these guys ended up on TV — apparently “Vivica’s Black Magic” was filmed with some of them, which made it feel even more surreal seeing them live.

I didn’t expect to feel so included — maybe it was because everyone around us was letting loose, or maybe it was just the way the performers kept making eye contact and pulling people into their world for a second. There were moments where I forgot I was in Las Vegas at all; it could’ve been anywhere as long as these guys were on stage. The whole thing is wheelchair accessible too, which my friend appreciated since she uses a chair (and honestly, not every place in Vegas gets that right). We left still laughing about some of the dance moves — and okay, maybe blushing a little too.
