What’s the experience like?

My hands were already sweating before I even saw the car — that low, mean-looking thing waiting in the pit at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. There was this weird mix of burnt rubber and desert air, kind of sharp in my nose. Our driver, Marcus (who looked way too calm for someone about to throw us sideways), just grinned and tossed me a helmet. He asked if I’d ever done anything like this before. I laughed and said, “Not unless you count spinning out on ice back home.” He winked and said, “This is better.”

I climbed in, strapped up tight, and suddenly it was loud — engine rumbling right under my feet. The first turn hit so much harder than I expected; we went into it straight, but then the whole world tilted and there was this screeching sound that felt like it was coming from inside my chest. Marcus shouted something over the intercom — maybe “hold on!” or maybe just laughing at my face. The smoke from the tires actually drifted through the window vents for a second. I didn’t expect to love that smell so much.

The second lap felt faster, or maybe I was just braver by then. You get this split-second where everything slows down mid-drift — sun flashing off the stands, crowd noise somewhere far away, my heart thumping like mad. And then it’s over way too soon. Back in the lounge after, my legs were jelly but I couldn’t stop grinning. Honestly, I still think about that first corner sometimes when I hear tires squeal anywhere.
