What’s the experience like?

We stepped onto the dock near Bayside Marketplace, sun already warming the wooden planks under our shoes. Our captain, Luis, greeted us with this easy smile—he’d probably done this hundreds of times but still seemed genuinely happy to see us. The boat felt bigger than I expected, and as soon as we settled in, someone hooked up their playlist to the Bluetooth speakers (reggaeton first, then classic rock—no one could agree). That first pop of the champagne cork made us all laugh. I’m not sure if it was nerves or excitement, but it set the tone.

Gliding past Star Island, I caught a salty breeze mixed with something sweet—maybe sunscreen or someone’s perfume? Luis pointed out where some famous people lived (I only recognized two names), and at one point a pelican skimmed so close to the water I thought it might join us. The Miami skyline looked unreal from out there—like a postcard you could actually step into. We passed by Fisher Island and Monument Island too; honestly, I lost track because I was busy trying to take photos that never quite captured how it felt to be on the water like that.

I didn’t expect how quiet it would get when we drifted near Miami Marine Stadium—the city noise faded and all you heard was water lapping against the hull. Someone tried to toast in Spanish (Li laughed at my accent), and for a second everything just slowed down. There’s a shower on board if you need it, which is good because my nephew managed to spill half his drink down his shirt. We brought snacks—chips mostly—and nobody minded that we weren’t fancy about it. Two hours went by fast; I still think about that view back toward downtown as the sun started dipping behind the buildings.
