What’s the experience like?

“Don’t worry, I’ll be waiting right outside with your name,” our driver said over WhatsApp the night before we landed in Hurghada. I’d been nervous about finding my way after a long flight — airports always make me weirdly anxious, you know? But there he was, holding up my name (spelled right!) and waving like he actually meant it. The air outside was warm and dry, that kind of desert heat that feels different from anywhere else. He smiled and took my bag before I could even protest.

The car smelled faintly of lemon wipes and something sweet — maybe the bottled water he handed me as soon as we got in. There was Wi-Fi (which worked, thank god), so I could text home to say we’d made it. Our driver chatted about Hurghada’s neighborhoods while steering us through the late afternoon traffic; he pointed out where locals go for seafood and which beaches are quieter if you want to avoid crowds. At one point he laughed when I tried to pronounce “Sahl Hasheesh” — apparently I butchered it, but he appreciated the effort.

I didn’t expect the drive to feel so easy. Usually transfers are just…transfers. But this felt more like being welcomed by someone who actually lives here. If you’re heading from Hurghada Airport to your hotel or somewhere like Makadi or El Gouna (we heard you can add those for a bit extra), it’s honestly worth booking this private transfer just for the peace of mind alone. There’s something about arriving in a new country and not having to think too hard — just letting someone else handle it for once. I still think about that first glimpse of the Red Sea out the window as we rounded a corner; it was quick but stuck with me.
