What’s the experience like?

The first thing I noticed wasn’t the building itself—it was the way light bounced off those wild glass sails of the Louis Vuitton Foundation. We’d just crossed into the Jardin d’Acclimatation, and our guide (Sophie, who had this habit of pointing with her whole hand) stopped to show us how Gehry’s design almost floats above the trees. There was a faint smell of grass after last night’s rain. Kids were chasing each other near the mini-zoo, their laughter mixing with the low hum of Paris traffic somewhere beyond the park gates.

Sophie told us about Frank Gehry’s obsession with movement—how every panel of glass was shaped differently. I tried to imagine drawing something like that; honestly, my brain short-circuited. She handed us our skip-the-line tickets right before we reached the entrance, which felt a bit like being handed a secret password. No waiting at all—just straight inside while other folks eyed us from the regular queue. The gallery spaces were cool and echoey. I wandered off on my own for a bit, letting myself get lost between Warhol’s colors and some artist I’d never heard of before. It’s quieter than you’d expect for such a famous spot.

Afterward, I sat on one of those benches outside, watching sunlight flicker through all that glass. Sophie waved goodbye with two hands (she really does use her whole body when she talks). I still think about that view—Paris stretched out behind shimmering windows, kids shrieking over by the carousel somewhere in Jardin d’Acclimatation. Not sure I’ll ever see another museum quite like it.
