What’s the experience like?

I didn’t expect to feel a jolt of excitement when the doors slid open at the Lost Atlantis Experience in Santorini. But nobody seemed to care; everyone was busy gawking at the giant diorama of Atlantis or poking at interactive maps. It’s weirdly fun seeing adults act like kids again.

After wandering through the digital frescoes—Plato’s journey mapped out in color and light—I caught myself staring at a holographic volcano erupting over ancient Santorini. The guide nearby explained how the myth of Atlantis is tangled up with real history here, which made me see this island differently. The whole place is air-conditioned (thank god), and there’s Wi-Fi if you want to post photos right away, but honestly I just wanted to stand there for another minute.
