What’s the experience like?

The first thing that hit me when I stepped out of Cancun Airport was the warm, humid air—kind of sticky but not unpleasant. My phone buzzed with a message from the driver’s team, right on time. They asked me to let them know once I’d cleared customs. It felt reassuring, like someone was actually keeping tabs on my arrival instead of just waiting around.

I spotted my name on a sign near the welcome bar at Terminal 3—easy to find even with the crowd and all the chatter in Spanish and English. Our driver greeted us with a quick smile and helped with our bags. The van itself was spotless and cool inside (bliss after the airport heat). Bottled water and soda were waiting for us in the cup holders, which honestly felt like a small treat after a long flight.

The drive down to Playa del Carmen took about 50 minutes. No random stops or detours—just straight through, which I appreciated since I was tired and just wanted to get there. The WiFi worked well enough for me to send a few messages home. Our driver chatted about local spots if we wanted tips but didn’t push conversation if we just wanted to zone out. I noticed families with strollers and couples all seemed comfortable—there were even infant seats ready for those who needed them.
