What’s the experience like?

He was already waiting in the lobby when I came down, holding a little sign with my name — not gonna lie, that made me feel a bit fancy for 7am. The air outside still had that salty tang from last night’s rain. Our driver (Jordi? I think it was Jordi) greeted me with this half-smile and helped with my suitcase like it weighed nothing. I’d been worrying about traffic and timing all morning, but once we got into the car — clean, roomy, and honestly way more comfortable than I expected — I felt myself relax for the first time since packing.

The drive through central Barcelona was quieter than usual. We passed shuttered bakeries and a couple of cyclists weaving between taxis. Jordi pointed out a Gaudí building I’d missed somehow during my stay (I pretended I knew what he meant). He chatted about how El Prat airport gets busier after 9am, so early transfers are usually smoother. He even offered to adjust the air conditioning when he noticed me fiddling with my jacket — small thing, but thoughtful. There was this faint smell of coffee from his thermos up front; made me wish I’d grabbed one too.

I kept glancing at my phone, half-expecting some delay or hiccup, but everything just… worked. No awkward waiting around or rush at pickup. We pulled up right at the terminal entrance and Jordi unloaded my bag before I could even say gracias properly (my Spanish is still embarrassing). He wished me buen viaje — and honestly, that little sendoff stuck with me more than I thought it would. Not sure why leaving always feels so strange, you know?
