What’s the experience like?

Honestly, I didn’t expect to feel so calm out there on the Bosphorus at night. The city was buzzing behind us but as soon as we stepped onto that yacht—bare feet on cool wood, the air smelling faintly of salt and fruit—it felt like the chaos just melted away. Our guide (I think his name was Emre?) welcomed us with this easy smile and handed out glasses of wine. He pointed out Dolmabahce Palace glowing on the shore, telling stories about sultans and old summer nights. I kept losing track of what side was Asia or Europe—somehow it didn’t matter much when you’re drifting right between them.

We passed under the Bosphorus Bridge and everyone got quiet for a second. The lights change color every few minutes—blue, then red, then something in between—and you can see people waving from ferries below. Someone started laughing when a seagull swooped a little too close to our snacks (the fruit plate was way better than I expected, by the way). There was this gentle playlist in the background—Turkish love songs maybe?—but not loud enough to drown out the water slapping against the hull. At one point Emre pointed at Rumeli Fortress and told us how it only took three months to build. I still don’t get how that’s possible.

The Maiden’s Tower looked almost unreal from the water—a tiny island with its own little legend. Emre tried to explain it but I got distracted by how the tower’s reflection stretched across the black water. It got chilly after an hour or so; they offered blankets if you wanted one. I leaned against the rail and watched Beylerbeyi Palace slip by, all lit up like some kind of movie set. Didn’t want it to end yet—but eventually we looped back toward Viaport Marina and I realized my glass had been empty for ages.
