What’s the experience like?

The first thing that hit me was the smell—yeasty, a bit sweet, almost like fresh bread baking somewhere close by. We ducked down a cobbled alley, dodging puddles from last night’s rain, and our guide—Andriy, who everyone seemed to know—waved us into a tiny bar with no sign on the door. Inside, the walls were covered in old concert posters and there was this low hum of chatter mixed with clinking glasses.

I lost count of how many times I heard “try this one!” as we moved from spot to spot. Each place had its own vibe: one felt like an old railway carriage, another smelled faintly of smoked cheese from the snacks behind the bar. We tasted everything from cloudy wheat beers to something greenish that Andriy swore was made with nettles (it actually tasted good). The pours weren’t huge—just enough for a real taste—but by the time we reached our fifth stop, I could definitely feel it. The best part? Most of these places aren’t even on Google Maps; you’d walk right past if you didn’t know where to look.
