What’s the experience like?

I didn’t know what to expect when we stepped onto that bright yellow RIB at Dubai Marina — I just remember feeling a bit giddy, like a kid about to break the rules. The city’s towers were all glass and sun, but out on the water, everything felt lighter. Our guide, Kareem, handed me a lifejacket with a grin (“hold onto your hat!”) and honestly, I almost lost it when we took off. The engine roared and suddenly Dubai was behind us in a blur of white spray.

The wind was salty and sharp, and every time we slowed near something big — like Atlantis rising out of Palm Jumeirah or the Burj Al Arab looking sort of unreal from sea level — Kareem would point out tiny details you’d never notice from land. He told us about the royal palaces tucked behind palm trees (I tried to spot someone famous but no luck). At one point he joked about the skydivers above JBR — I squinted up and actually caught one floating down, arms wide like he was hugging the air.

I kept thinking how weirdly quiet it got when we paused by Ain Dubai. You could hear gulls and the slap of water against the hull. My hands were sticky from sunscreen and salt but I couldn’t stop taking photos — not just for Instagram, but because I wanted to remember how it felt right then. There’s something about seeing Dubai’s skyline from out there that makes it all feel less distant, somehow more real. We zipped back toward the marina with my hair tangled everywhere and cheeks sore from grinning. I still think about that view past Atlantis — all blue haze and sunlight bouncing off glass towers.
