What’s the experience like?

We barely had time to catch our breath before the engine started humming — you just hand over your e-ticket at Dubai Marina and suddenly you’re in a life jacket, squinting at the skyline. The water smelled faintly salty, but not like the ocean back home; it’s warmer, somehow softer. Our guide grinned as he checked everyone’s straps (“No swimming today, please!”) and then we were off, slicing past towers that look unreal up close. I kept trying to take photos but mostly ended up with blurry streaks and my own hair in the frame.

The speed really hits you after Ain Dubai — that giant wheel looms over everything for a minute, then it’s gone behind us and all I can hear is wind and someone laughing (maybe me). We slowed near Jumeirah Beach just long enough to spot families waving from the sand. Then came Atlantis The Palm, looking almost fake against the blue — I tried to say “Atlantis” in Arabic but our guide just laughed and said something back I didn’t catch. He offered to take our picture; honestly, he was better at it than I am. That’s when I realized my hands were shaking a little from excitement or maybe just the engine vibration.

I’d seen photos of Burj Al Arab before but seeing it rise out of the water like that—well, it’s different. The sun hit its white sail shape so hard I had to shade my eyes. Our guide told us how far out it sits (280 meters from shore — he seemed proud), then waited while we all took turns posing awkwardly for photos. There was bottled water if you wanted it but mostly people were too busy grinning or trying not to drop their phones overboard. The ride back felt quicker somehow; maybe because we knew what was coming this time.
