What’s the experience like?

I’ll be honest — I was a little nervous about a pub crawl in Dubai. I mean, it’s not exactly the first place that pops into your head for nightlife, right? But the second we met our guide (I think his name was Samir?), he just grinned and handed out these neon wristbands like we were all old friends. The rooftop bar in Downtown had this soft breeze and you could smell the city — perfume, spices, maybe even a hint of the sea if you tried. Everyone sort of hovered awkwardly at first but then someone from Germany started a toast and suddenly we were all laughing about how none of us could pronounce “Jumeirah” correctly.

The party bus was next — honestly, I thought it’d be cheesy but it was hilarious. There was this karaoke mic going around and someone belted out “Livin’ on a Prayer” so badly that even the driver started clapping along. The guide kept us moving (and hydrated — shots at every stop), but never rushed. Each place felt different: one bar had a live band so loud you could feel it in your ribs, another spot in Marina had these velvet couches and everyone just kind of melted into them between songs. You get private tables everywhere, which means no fighting for space or weird stares from regulars.

I didn’t expect to actually dance that much but by midnight nobody cared anymore — even people who swore they “don’t dance” were out there with us. The last club was wild: lights everywhere, DJ spinning until 3am, people from five continents just vibing together like it was totally normal to end up here on a random Friday night in Dubai. I still think about that view from the rooftop at the start though; something about seeing all those skyscrapers lit up before everything got loud. If you’re wondering if Dubai nightlife is real — yeah, it is. Just maybe don’t try to keep up with Samir on the shots.
