What’s the experience like?

“Look left—there’s the spot from that movie!” our guide called out as we rolled past the Loeb Boathouse, the wheels humming softly over the path. The city’s usual honking faded behind us, replaced by the sound of runners’ shoes on gravel and a saxophone somewhere near Bethesda Terrace. I could smell roasted nuts drifting in from a vendor at the edge of the park, mixing with fresh grass after last night’s rain.

We hopped off at Bow Bridge for photos, and I noticed how couples paused mid-walk to take in the skyline peeking through tree branches. Our guide shared stories about John Lennon at Strawberry Fields—he even pointed out a mosaic someone had decorated with fresh flowers that morning. At every stop, he offered to snap pictures and never rushed us; it felt like exploring with a friend who just happened to know every shortcut and bit of trivia.

The ride took us past all sorts of New York icons: the carousel spinning near Central Park Zoo, street performers warming up by Columbus Circle, even glimpses of Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall beyond the trees. By the time we reached Tavern on the Green, my legs were grateful for not having walked it all. When it was time to go, our driver dropped us right at our hotel door—no subway crowds or hailing cabs needed.
