What’s the experience like?

I’ll admit, I was a little nervous about seeing Manhattan in just three hours — it felt like trying to read a novel in one sitting. But the second our driver, Marcus, pulled up in this sleek black car (I swear it looked cleaner than my own apartment), I relaxed. He greeted us with this easy New York confidence and asked if we had any “must-sees.” My mind went blank except for “bagels,” but he just grinned and said he’d show us his favorite corners.

The city moved past the windows in flashes — yellow cabs, steam rising from subway grates, some guy selling pretzels on 5th Ave who waved at Marcus like they were old friends. We stopped at Central Park for a quick walk; I could smell roasted nuts and hear someone playing saxophone under the trees. Marcus told us stories about growing up nearby and pointed out the museum where his sister used to work (the Met — which honestly feels even bigger in person). There wasn’t any rush. He let us linger when we wanted to take photos or just stand there watching people go by.

At one point he asked if we wanted to see something “touristy or weird,” so we ended up detouring through Chinatown for dumplings — not exactly on my original list, but I still think about that spicy ginger taste. The whole time, Marcus kept sharing little details about the city that you’d never get from an audio guide. I liked that he didn’t try too hard; sometimes he’d just let us sit quietly while the city buzzed around outside. Three hours went fast, but somehow it felt like we got a real slice of Manhattan life… or at least as much as you can fit between traffic lights.
