What’s the experience like?

I didn’t think I’d ever see a twerking contest break out right in front of the Miami skyline, but here we are. The second we stepped onto the boat (after a slightly chaotic check-in at Lombardi’s — everyone was buzzing), it hit me how much energy was packed into this floating party. Our MC shouted something about “champagne showers” and I just laughed, not sure if he was joking. Spoiler: he wasn’t.

The DJ wasted no time — hip hop, reggaeton, even some old-school tracks that made a few people cheer. At one point, I stood by the rail with my plastic cup (vodka and pineapple juice, maybe too much vodka), watching the sun start to dip behind those wild Star Island mansions. There’s this salty-sweet smell from the bay mixed with fried chicken wings coming from somewhere near the snack table. It’s loud but not in a bad way — more like everyone’s in on something together.

Somewhere between the third round of tequila and someone convincing me to join a dance contest (I did not win), I realized how quickly three hours can fly by. The crew kept things moving — pouring drinks, hyping up dance-offs, laughing along when someone tried to say “salud” with a heavy accent. I still think about that view back toward downtown as the lights came on and everyone cheered for no real reason except that it felt good.
