What’s the experience like?

Hands up — literally, because someone passed me a cold drink before I’d even found a seat. The party bus was already pulsing with music when we climbed aboard in downtown Nashville. Our DJ (he called himself “DJ Toast” — not sure why, but it stuck) grinned at us from behind his setup while the bartender lined up cups and ice like she’d done this a thousand times. The lights inside flickered blue and pink across everyone’s faces. It smelled faintly of citrus and something sweet — maybe someone’s perfume or just the mix of drinks. I thought I’d feel awkward dancing this early in the day, but honestly, nobody cared what time it was.

We rolled past Broadway’s neon signs with windows open, people on the sidewalk waving or filming us as we went by. Someone shouted “play Dolly!” and suddenly Jolene was blasting out over the speakers, echoing off brick walls outside. Our guide pointed out a mural I would’ve missed otherwise — she told us about the artist between pouring drinks, so yeah, multitasking legend. There’s one bathroom stop halfway through (bless), which turned into an impromptu group selfie moment outside the bar. My friend tried to request a song in her best southern accent; DJ Toast just laughed and played it anyway.

I didn’t expect how much you end up talking to strangers on these things. By the last half hour, we were swapping stories with a couple from Memphis and some folks celebrating a birthday — I think that’s what sticks with me most. The city looked different from up there: all lit up even in daylight, music bouncing around everywhere. We finished back where we started but it felt like two hours had stretched way longer — in a good way. Still hear that beat sometimes when I walk past Broadway now.
