What’s the experience like?

I climbed up onto this big red tractor—honestly, it looks more like a barn on wheels than anything I’ve ever ridden—and right away felt like I was part of some oddball parade. The air smelled faintly of fried food and something sweet (maybe kettle corn?) drifting in from Broadway. Our guide, Mike, waved us on board and started off with a story about how Music Row got its name. He had that Southern way of talking—kind of slow, but you want to listen.

We rolled past the Country Music Hall of Fame first (I could almost hear the twang leaking out the windows), then swung by the riverfront where you get this wide-open view of Nissan Stadium across the water. There were kids running around and someone playing guitar near Riverfront Park—just background noise, but it made everything feel alive. At one point, Mike pointed out the Ryman Auditorium and told us about all the legends who’d played there. I tried to snap a photo but my hand got in the way—classic me.

The best part? When we rattled through Marathon Village for a quick moonshine tasting. I wasn’t sure at first (it’s not my usual thing), but everyone laughed when I coughed after my first sip. There’s just something about sitting on a tractor with strangers, passing around little cups and listening to stories about old Nashville recording studios—it sticks with you. We even passed through The Gulch and saw people lining up for brunch, which made me wish we’d had time to stop for biscuits.

By the end, I felt like I’d seen more than just tourist spots—I got these flashes of real life: farmers unloading crates at the market, a woman selling homemade jam at the flea market stand, sunlight bouncing off those weird shiny buildings downtown. It wasn’t perfect (my hair was a mess from the wind), but that’s kind of what made it good. Sometimes you just need to see a city from a tractor seat to get it.
